Project Background

Our customer is a cookware manufacturer based in Israel producing pressed pots, pans and stock pots for both domestic retail chains and private-label export programs. In early 2026 the company won a multi-year supply contract that required a stable monthly intake of aluminum blanks, and its previous European supplier could no longer hold the price or the 0.68mm and 0.95mm gauges it needed. The customer approached us with a single, clearly defined request: 26 tons of 1060 O temper aluminum circle discs for cookware deep drawing.

Why 1060 O Temper

The customer's press line draws the blanks into pots up to 240mm deep, so formability mattered more than strength. 1060 is a 99.6% pure aluminum grade with excellent elongation, and O temper gives the lowest yield strength in the range, which means the material flows evenly around the punch without cracking at the flange. It also takes polishing and anodizing cleanly, which is critical for cookware that is sold with a bright interior finish.

  • Deep drawing performance: O temper avoids the earring and edge cracking that H14 or H24 blanks can show at 240mm draw depth.
  • Thickness consistency: tight gauge control keeps the drawn wall thickness even, so the finished pot passes the customer's wall-thickness check.
  • Food contact safety: 1060 is a standard grade for cookware and meets the food contact requirements the customer's retail buyers audit.

Production and Quality Control

The 26 tons were produced in five thickness groups so the customer could feed different pot sizes without re-tooling mid-run. Each group was slit from a dedicated mother coil, blanked on a circle press, then fully annealed to O temper before edge trimming.

Process Step Control Point
Casting and cold rolling Composition check, 1060 purity verified per heat number
Annealing to O temper Hardness and tensile test per batch, target elongation above 30%
Circle blanking Diameter tolerance and concentricity checked on first piece and every 500 pieces
Edge trimming Burr-free edge, no visible slivers, prevents die scoring on the customer press
Surface inspection No roll marks, scratches or oxidation stains on the drawing face
Final packing Flat stacked, waterproof paper, fumigated pallet, steel strapped for sea freight
Delivery and Result

Production of all five thickness groups was completed within 18 working days of deposit, consolidated into one shipment to Ashdod. The customer's incoming inspection reported thickness within tolerance on all groups and no cracking during the first trial draw of the 375mm and 755mm blanks. The 0.68mm group, which the previous supplier had failed to hold, ran without any die adjustment.

  • 26 tons delivered in five thickness groups: 0.5mm, 0.68mm, 0.95mm, 1.1mm and 1.5mm.
  • Diameter range 375-755mm covering the customer's full pot program, no secondary cutting needed in house.
  • Zero cracking rate on the trial draw, so the customer skipped the usual die-tuning trial batch.
  • Repeat order placed for the following quarter under a rolling monthly schedule.
Customer Feedback

The purchasing manager commented that the main difference from their previous source was gauge stability: the 0.68mm and 0.95mm circles arrived at the nominal thickness, which removed the manual sorting step before pressing. They also highlighted the burr-free edge, which reduced die maintenance on their 250-ton press line.

Conclusion

This case shows how a defined specification plus a stable annealed 1060 O temper supply solves a real cookware production problem. If you are sourcing aluminum circle discs for cookware, bakeware or cookware lids, we can supply 1050, 1060, 1100 and 3003 grades in O temper from 0.5mm to 1.5mm thickness and 375mm to 755mm diameter, with free samples for your draw trial.
